Remembering 9/11 is Not Enough … Stop the Iran Nuclear Deal

September 11, 2015 by TMLC

September 11, 2015

As the American People remember the 14th anniversary of 9/11, incompetent and cowardly Washington Politicians insult the memory of the victims. These politicians have learned nothing from 9/11 or history.

World War II could have been prevented and millions of lives saved if only Western leaders had taken more seriously what Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf and said in his speeches. Today, Washington Politicians ignore Islamists’ speeches and what is written in the Koran.

The Iran Nuclear Deal, surpasses the folly of Prime Minister Chamberlain’s 1938 treaty with Hitler, which was supposed to bring “Peace for our time.”
  • Iran, the major sponsor of terrorism, has vowed the destruction of America and Israel.
  • Still, Washington has agreed to give them $150 billion so they can increase their terrorist activities.
  • The American people are purposely left ignorant of the secret nuclear side-deals with Iran.
  • These cowardly politicians defend their actions saying they have stopped Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon for 10 years.  What they are really saying is that rather than confront the threat of a nuclear Iran today, they want our children and grandchildren to face a nuclear Iran in 10 years.

Despite the fact that that we have no effective way of vetting “Muslim refugees”, we are allowing thousands of Muslims to enter who have no intent on assimilating.  ISIS is using this refugee chain to build their Jihadist network in Western countries.

Islamic clerics have been bragging for a long time that they will destroy America. With the help of Washington Politicians, they are well on their way to achieving their goals:

  • When Muslim US Army major Nidal Hassan shouting “Allahu Akbar,” killed 13 fellow soldiers and wounded 30 in the Fort Hood massacre, the government called it workplace violence. The 86 page official report on the massacre didn’t once mention Muslim or jihadist. But it mentioned workplace violence 16 times.
  • Caving in to Muslim demands, the FBI purged 876 pages and 392 presentations that were deemed offensive to Islam.
  • The Pentagon ordered all training materials used by military professional colleges in combat units scrubbed of any content deemed offensive to Islam.
  • And the list goes on . . .
STOP THE IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL.

“If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

-Abraham Lincoln, January 27, 1838

Supreme Court’s Same Sex Marriage Decision is Judicial Tyranny and ‘A Threat to American Democracy’—Expect a Wave of Christian Persecution

June 29, 2015 by TMLC

Last Friday, June 26th, a committee of five un-elected lawyers ignoring the expressed will of an overwhelming majority of Americans, ruled that the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one women, which has existed for thousands of years, is unconstitutional. In the process the majority dispelled the concept “that we are a government of laws, not of men.”

Four Justices wrote stinging dissents. Justice Scalia wrote that the majority opinion is “a threat to American democracy.”  Scalia went on: “This is a naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power; a claim fundamentally at odds with our system of government…. A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.”

READ the dissents: Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito

Of the 35 States that voted on the issue of same-sex marriage, 32 States opted to retain the traditional definition of marriage.  In fact, in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges, the Court reviewed the laws of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.  In each of these states, an overwhelming majority of voters voted in favor of traditional marriage: 88% in Tennessee, 74% in Kentucky, 62% in Ohio and 59% in Michigan.

Chief Justice Roberts, destroying the majority’s legal basis for same–sex marriage, concluded, “The right it announces has no basis in the Constitution or this Court’s precedent.”  He wrote, “The Constitution itself says nothing about marriage, and the Framers thereby entrusted the States with “[t]he whole subject of the domestic relations of husband and wife.”

Up until last Friday, since the founding of our nation, and for the last approximately 2,000 years of Christianity, across all civilizations and cultures, the definition of marriage has been the same—the union of a man and a woman.

And Bible believing Christians cannot and will not accept this illegitimate decision.  Christ said:

“Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” (Matthew 19: 4-6, NASB)

The Court’s decision in this case is not the final word.  It is not the same as So sayeth the Lord.

In 1857, the Supreme Court used the same substantive Due Process rationale in its Dred Scott decision to protect the rights of slaveholders to own slaves as property.  As Chief Justice Roberts observed, “Dred Scott’s holding was overruled on the battlefields of the Civil War….”

Christians are born for combat, and so this decision, similar to the Courts creation of the constitutional right to abortion in Roe v Wade, will not end the debate.  We must launch a well-thought out offensive to change this decision and stop America’s decline as a result of her jettisoning the Christian principles upon which this great nation was founded.

So what’s next?

In the short term we must ensure that federal and state laws are enacted that will protect the religious freedom of Christians, not only to speak out but also, to exercise their faith. But that is just the beginning. We must also begin to counter the slick, meaningless slogans used by homosexual advocates such as “marriage equality.”  A million-man march on Washington may also get the Court and politicians to act.

Families are too important to the survival of our nation for Christians to retreat to their religious ghetto. Besides, homosexuals will not be satisfied until every vestige of opposition to same-sex marriage is destroyed.  They have already embarked on a wave of persecution against those opposed to their agenda.  It will only get worse.

Princeton law professor Robert George pointed to the increasing oppression of Christians who oppose a redefinition of marriage. He said that business owners, adoption agencies and workers in several states have already been threatened, pushed out of their industries, or forced to violate their consciences in order to operate their businesses. George pointed out that many government employees have been subjected to disciplinary action and threatened with termination for expressing their biblical views on marriage. Unquestionably there will be efforts to revoke the tax-exempt status of the Catholic Church as well as other Christian organizations that teach that marriage is the union of a man and woman. And the list will continue on.

The Thomas more Law Center filed several friend of the court briefs in support of the definition of traditional marriage. It has defended the rights of Christians to speak out  and act on this issue and it will continue to do so.

West Point Graduate and Army Chaplain Gives Unusual Gift to the Thomas More Law Center

June 10, 2015 by TMLC

Last week, Father Michael Cerrone, a West Point graduate and military Intelligence officer who later became a priest and Army chaplain, personally donated a statue of Joan of Arc entitled the “Saintly Soldier of Christ” to be placed in the Thomas More Law Center office.

We were honored to receive this gift.  In a unique way, this statue symbolizes the strength and dedication of the women of TMLC, both lawyers and support staff, who are indeed warriors in the current culture war which threatens to tear our nation asunder.Winston Churchill described Joan of Arc as:
“A being so uplifted from the ordinary run of mankind that she finds no equal in a thousand years. She embodied the natural goodness and valour of the human race in unexampled perfection. Unconquerable courage, infinite compassion, the virtue of the simple, the wisdom of the just, shone forth in her.”

Mark Twain said of her,

“Whatever thing men call great, look for it in Joan of Arc, and there you will find it.”

After years of constant humiliating defeat and the demoralization of France’s military and civil leadership, Joan’s urgent request to be equipped for war and placed at the head of the army was granted.  So this illiterate farm girl who claimed that the voice of God instructed her to take charge of her country’s army and lead it to victory, in fact did lead the French military forces to victory after victory.

However, in 1420 Joan was captured and placed on trial for heresy. On May 30, 1431, she was burned at the stake and her ashes were scattered in the Seine River. She was 19 years old. The Church later declared Joan a martyr and canonized her as a saint in 1920.

Fr. Michael Cerrone was raised in a devout Catholic army family and graduated from the Military Academy at West Point in 1968. He served in the Vietnam War and in Germany and Italy. He left active military service after finishing his 5 year obligation with the Army. He subsequently entered into the seminary and was ordained a priest on May 30, 1981. He returned to the Army as a Chaplain and retired as a Lt Colonel after 20 years of active duty and having served as an infantry chaplain in Iraq.
Fr. Cerrone’s own personal devotion to St. Joan of Arc was born when it was noted that he was ordained a priest on her feast day, May 30th.

After his service in the military, Fr. Cerrone began to study St. Joan of Arc in earnest.  Eventually, his research and devotion culminated in the authoring “For God and Country” a book about how prayer and the Church’s sacramental life gave St. Joan of Arc the strength to overcome.

The artist who sculpted and casted the statue is Julia Levitina, a young Ukrainian woman currently living in Philadelphia. She has received numerous awards in figure modeling and her sculptures are recognized for “uplifting the human spirit.”

A group of sisters from the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist capped the spirit of the occasion with an impromptu performance of  “Salve Regina.” (see video below)

I can think of no better conclusion to this Blog than to quote from Mark Twain’s own Conclusions to Personal Recollection of Joan of Arc:

“Love, Mercy, Charity, Fortitude, War, Peace, Poetry, Music–these may be symbolized as any shall prefer: by figures of either sex and of any age; but a slender girl in her first young bloom, with the martyr’s crown upon her head, and in her hand the sword that severed her country’s bonds–shall not this, and no other, stand for PATRIOTISM through all the ages until time shall end?”
