Celebrating Flag Day 2018

June 13, 2018 by TMLC

The American Flag was once described by President Calvin Coolidge as representative of “our peace and security, our civil and political liberty, our freedom of religious worship, our family, our friends, and our home.” On June 14, we pay homage to the Stars and Stripes on National Flag Day.

A Brief History of Flag Day:

On June 14, 1777, Continental Congress adopted the American Flag in the First Flag Act, which states: “That the flag of the United States shall be of thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, representing the new constellation.”

Over 100 years later, in 1885, a small-town Wisconsin teacher named Bernard Cigrand came up with the idea of an annual flag birthday to be celebrated every June 14. He lobbied Congress for years to celebrate it as a national holiday. He is sometimes called the “Father of Flag Day.” On May 7, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first state to establish the June 14 Flag Day as a legal holiday, a recognition that Pennsylvania holds today.

Both President Wilson, in 1916, and President Coolidge, in 1927, issued proclamations asking for June 14 to be observed as the National Flag Day. But it wasn’t until August 3, 1949, that Congress approved the national observance, and President Harry Truman signed it into law.

The U.S. government encourages its citizens to display Old Glory outside of their homes and businesses. Today is a day of reflection as we consider the sacrifices our ancestors made and consider how we might carry on their work so that our grandchildren may live in the freedom the Stars and Stripes majestically proclaim.

God Bless America,

Thank you for your continued support of the Thomas More Law Center.

DID YOU SEE THIS?

The ACLU, in a full-page ad in the New York Times,  issued an ultimatum to President-elect Donald J. Trump and the Americans who voted for him.
But, as FOX News Talk Show host Bill O’Reilly stated: “The Thomas More Law Center is the antidote to the ACLU.”

But you are part of the antidote when you include the Thomas More Law Center as a charity for your payroll deduction.  Our CFC Number is # 10792.
The ad’s message was this: Don’t do the things that you promised to the people who elected you; do what we say or else.
The ACLU has stood against presidents before. So has the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC).
The ACLU fights for abortion. TMLC fights for the lives of unborn children.
The ACLU seeks to destroy our Nation’s religious and moral foundations. TMLC defends those foundations.
If the ACLU is threatening the “full firepower of the ACLU at every step,” then TMLC will be our Nation’s “antidote to the ACLU” at every step.
TMLC will continue to defend our American patriots, our national security and sovereignty, and the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
Following the recent election, the ACLU made over $2,000,000 in under 2 days promising to defend illegal immigration, weaken national security in the face of radical Islamic terrorism, and promote the murder of innocent children in the womb.
Now is the time for those who believe our nation needs a Christian response to the ACLU to stand up for a free and sovereign United States dedicated to the Judeo-Christian heritage and moral values upon which it was founded.
Please consider including the Thomas More Law Center as a charity for your payroll deduction; “the antidote to the ACLU.”

Our CFC Number is # 10792.

Thank you,

Richard Thompson,
President and Chief Counsel
