Remember 9/11—A call to action

September 11, 2019 by TMLC

Today America marks the 18th anniversary of 9/11 with solemn ceremonies.  As one people we said we would never forget that day. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost amid the smoldering ruins of the Twin Towers, at the Pentagon and on a grassy knoll in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Our first responders showed incredible bravery. American flags were flying everywhere.  Young and old left their jobs to enlist in the military.

But remembering 9/11 is more than a once-a-year ceremony.

It’s about taking to heart the lesson we should have learned that day—Islam’s goal is to destroy America and the values embodied in our Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Because many Americans have forgotten that lesson, Islam’s plan for civilization jihad is working. Islam is defeating us from within, without firing a shot.

Instead of tolerating this evil ideology, we should heed the words of Abraham Lincoln in his 1838 speech. “As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide.”

So, on this 18th anniversary of 9/11 let us keep the flame of retribution burning in our hearts.

Sharia Law now exists in many towns, universities, public schools and corporations. When American citizens are afraid to speak out against Islam, they have already submitted to the first rule of Sharia Law—a ban on all speech deemed offensive to Islam and Muslims.

Presidents Bush, Obama and Clinton, as well as other political and religious leaders, have unashamedly proclaimed the big lie that “Islam is a religion of peace.”

Schools across our nation have become Islamic indoctrination centers teaching students that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. They teach students the Five Pillars of Islam and the Islamic conversion creed, “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger.” Parents who speak out against this Islamic indoctrination are condemned by school officials and their own communities.

Public school systems like the Novi School District in Michigan pay professional Islamic propagandists to present mandatory training seminars to their teachers where Islam is glorified, Christianity disparaged, and America bashed—all in the name of diversity and multiculturalism.

Christian religious leaders preaching love invite Muslim clerics into their churches. They naively think that by petting the tiger they will change it into a pussy cat. Never mind the 1,400 years of mortal combat between Christianity and Islam.

We now elect Muslims to Congress who take the oath of office with their hands on the Koran, then use their positions to spew anti-Semitic and anti-American hatred while attempting to whitewash the memory of 9/11.

On this 18th anniversary of 9/11 we honor all those who answered our nation’s call to arms and the first responders. Take the time this 9/11 to remember the brave American soldiers who were killed, wounded or are still suffering, as a result of the wars against Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan, Iraq and other places. Also remember the sacrifices made by our committed law enforcement.

Pray for all our men and women who are in harm’s way today defending our nation.

God bless America!

Celebrating Independence Day

July 3, 2019 by TMLC

America’s Independence Day—the Fourth of July—commemorates our Nation’s birthday, and the significant steps our Founding Fathers took to make the dream of this “great experiment” a reality.

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence from Great Britain and its king, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence—the birth certificate of America.

In a letter from John Adams to his wife, Abigail, dated July 3, 1776, Adams refers to that day as “the most memorable epoch in the history of America.”

He went on to write:

“I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward, forevermore.”

Adams concludes his letter with this stirring paragraph:

“I am well aware of the toil, and blood, and treasure, that it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet, through all the gloom, I can see the rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is more than worth all the means, and that posterity will triumph in that day’s transaction, even although we should rue it, which I trust in God we shall not.”

Although it’s celebrated with fireworks, burgers on the grill and a day off from work, it’s important to remember what this Day truly represents.

This Independence Day, may we celebrate the birth of our Nation proudly, striving resolutely to preserve our freedom, just as our Founding Fathers declared so boldly 243 years ago.

God Bless America!

Today Is National Flag Day—Display It Proudly

June 14, 2019 by TMLC

Today, June 14, Americans commemorate the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States.

As you honor our flag today, reverently remember . . .

“It is the soldier, who salutes the flag,

who serves under the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag.”

On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the American Flag in the First Flag Act. It declared: “That the flag of the United States shall be of thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, representing the new constellation.”

Americans pay their respect to our flag whenever they recite the Pledge of Allegiance or stand and sing the Star-Spangled Banner with their hands over their hearts.

The 75th Anniversary of D-Day: Let Us Never Forget Their Sacrifices And Ensure They Were Not In Vain

June 6, 2019 by TMLC

June 6, 2019

75 years ago, over 156,000 soldiers from the United States, Britain and Canada, stormed the beaches of Normandy to bring down Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Given the code-name of Operation Overlord, D-Day was the largest amphibious military assault the world has ever seen. General Dwight Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied forces, spoke to his troops on the eve of the invasion.

Click the photo below to listen to his message and view archival footage of that historic day.

2,501 Americans died on the first day of battle.

But D-Day wasn’t just the beginning of the end of WWII. Allied troops weren’t just attacking Nazi Germany. This was an attack on totalitarianism to preserve Christian Western civilization.

President Ronald Reagan, during his speech on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day at Normandy, closed with these inspirational words:

“Strengthened by their courage, heartened by their valor, and borne by their memory, let us continue to stand for the ideals for which they lived and died.”

God Bless America,

Video: Ronald Reagan’s Moving Memorial Day Tribute

May 24, 2019 by TMLC

Memorial Day is a time to remember the fallen heroes throughout our nation’s history “who gave the last full measure of devotion” to their country.

Mere words cannot capture the enormity of their sacrifice or the anguish of loved ones they left behind. Yet, the words of that “great communicator,” Ronald Reagan, come pretty close.

I invite you to view President Ronald Reagan’s moving tribute to our fallen heroes as well as a second video dramatically depicting the enduring loss of those left behind. Click here.

Also, on this Memorial Day weekend, remember and pray for our troops now deployed in harm’s way. Pray for their families and loved ones as they endure the hardship and uncertainty of deployment.

Always remember:

“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”

I close this Memorial Day message with a favorite poem by Marine Chaplain Father Dennis Edward O’Brien, which pays tribute to our courageous soldiers.

It is the Soldier

It is the soldier, not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer

who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag,

who serves under the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag,

who allows the protester to burn the flag.

God Bless America!

The Federal Government’s “Unconstitutional Compulsion” – AUDIO: Tennessee and Government Lawyers Spar Over The Federal Refugee Resettlement Program

March 21, 2019 by TMLC

In a case with critical constitutional implications for the principles of federalism and state sovereignty, a three-judge panel of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments Tuesday morning on Tennessee’s challenge to the federal refugee resettlement program.

Attorney John Bursch appearing for the Thomas More Law Center, argued on behalf of Tennessee’s General Assembly, while DOJ attorney Samantha Lee Chaifetz argued for the Federal Government. Each side had 15 minutes to present its case. Mr. Bursch took 10 minutes for his initial presentation and reserved 5 minutes for rebuttal.

Both lawyers were peppered with questions by Judge Boggs. By the end, it still remained unclear whether the judges were leaning towards one side or the other.

However, I have linked below to the court-provided audio of the entire oral argument, so you can judge for yourself.  Also, separately linked is Mr. Bursch’s 5-minute rebuttal which counters the arguments made by the Federal Government.

Listed below are some salient quotes from Mr. Bursch’s argument to the 3-judge panel:

  • “When the Federal Government implements an exclusively federal program, it cannot commandeer state funds to pay for it under a threat that the Federal Government will cut 20% of a state’s budget if it does not comply. That is unconstitutional compulsion.”

  • “The Tennessee General Assembly is the institutional plaintiff asserting an institutional injury. It can’t satisfy its State Constitutional obligations under Article 2 Section 24 of the State Constitution to have a balanced state budget because the Federal Government can simply syphon off state funds from the Tennessee general program whenever it wants to by placing more refugees.”

  • “The question is whether the Federal Government’s pressure has turned into compulsion or coercion or duress.”

  • “The only one telling the Tennessee legislature that it can’t defend its own interest is the Federal Government. The same Federal Government which can yank those 20% of the Medicaid funds, the 20% of the State budget, if we don’t comply.”

  • “The language the Supreme Court uses when the Federal Government uses funding mechanisms where pressure turns into compulsion, coercion, pressure, duress that’s when it violates this 10th Amendment federalism principle.”

  • “The Assembly members take an oath to uphold state and federal law at the time they go into office and if they would propose a statute with a plan that didn’t result in us paying for this federal program, we would be violating federal law.”
